Below some english information to understand the seriousness of
situation in the kurdish region Rojava in Syria, the political
interest of NATO Allies and their affiliated terrorist groups IS
heading to massacre the population of Kobane. The first and
second article put also light on the wrong position of the left
party and the role of german media.
This new step in the imperialist all over war affects the whole
middle east like the destruction of Libya affects the whole
Africa.
But most important is that the kurdish project of a
council-democratic and self-governing autonomous region is a
thread to all warmongers and oppressive powers of the region.
Thats why it has to be attack - we have to understand the
message very clear

Struggle for Kobanê,
state of emergency in Turkey and
International Solidarity
by Errol
Babacan and
Murat Çakır, newsletter
Turkey,
09:10:14
For
more than three weeks, the
Syrian city
Kobanê is besieged
by heavily armed militias
of the "Islamic
State" (IS). The defense units of the population
have Kobanês
can prevent
penetration of the IS despite appearing hopeless
military inferiority
long time.
Now obviously
bitter urban
warfare take place.
Is to be feared another
massacre of the IS. The situation is urgent, yet complex, because
the struggle for Kobanê
is also one of
the appropriate means of international solidarity.
Across Europe, solidarity
rallies for
Kobanê take place.
But what practical
arrangements envisaged for the solidarity?
...
Why is Rojava hostility?
Moreover, provided the assumption that Turkey could have a
vested interest in favor of the population engage Kobanês
against the IS, the entire character of the developments in
recent years on the head. Thus, the sharp front position of
Turkey towards Rojava is closely linked with its strategic
objectives and the political orientation Rojavas. A cursory
recapitulation of the background to the front position may
suffice at this point.
About a year after the start of the demonstrations against the
Syrian government, the PYD autonomous administrative structures
began officially in the mainly Kurdish-populated areas of North
Syria called Rojava (Western Kurdistan) build and Self-Defense
Forces (YPG / YPJ) compile from the population. Previously, the
PYD did show through her independent act against the Syrian
opposition. As the latter are organized in Turkey, with Western
support took up armed struggle against the regime and called for
a military intervention, the PYD spoke against such outside
intervention and stressed that a democratic Syria could only be
the collective work of all Syrians .
Under the leadership of PYD (Afrin, Kobanê and Cizirê)
democratic councils structures have been established in three
regions, called cantons. The administrative units, as well as
the self-defense forces are characterized by gender quotas and
representation of constituencies along ethnic or religious
affiliation (Kurdish, Arabic, Assyrian-Christian). Village,
district, city and regional councils to ensure a high level of
popular participation in decision-making. Democratic control of
prices, constitutional jurisdiction and free education in their
mother tongue are more characteristic of democratic autonomy in
Rojava. Under extremely adverse conditions was passed to
organize the supply of the population on the basis of production
cooperatives.
The population in Rojava not only refused a military
intervention in Syria from the outside. In negotiations with the
Syrian opposition, they also insisted on an autonomy of the
Kurdish region in a possible future Syria. The initially
predominantly Arab nationalist Syrian opposition rejected both
demands categorically. The representatives Rojavas were isolated
from the opposition and the so-called "Group of Friends of
Syria" internationally. This isolation was accompanied by an
economic embargo that has been implemented by Turkey and the
Government of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region (KRG) in Iraq.
The Turkish government said it would not tolerate the "terrorist
entity" on its border, which they regarded as identical with the
PKK. The rivalry KRG-but in the near Rojava socially weak
anchored parties with the leading party YPG on the other hand
led to a break in relations with Iraqi Kurdistan. Since then,
the KRG tried jointly with Turkey by all means to weaken Rojava.
Even the delivery of essential medicines has now been prevented.
While Rojava was exposed to the attacks by Islamist militias,
leaving the KRG on its border to Rojava to dig a trench in order
to strengthen the control. So early was formed an alliance
against Rojava, which was reinforced by attacks by Islamist
groups that were significantly supported by Saudi Arabia, Qatar
and Turkey, as recently also reported the mainstream media.
While Islamist warriors could travel freely on the
Syrian-Turkish border back and forth, refugees were denied from
Rojava to the borders with Turkey and Iraq to the north entry.
The strategy was clear: Rojava should be starved by any means.
Destruction of democratic autonomy
How to explain this extremely aggressive approach? For the
Turkish government provides Rojava is a multiple threat. Rojava
The autonomy model serves as a model for the Kurdish population
in Turkey. The cantons have stated that natural resources remain
in Rojava collective ownership and potential revenues to benefit
the entire population were to use. The councils structures based
on equality organizing principles and the collectivization of
property available to the confessional conservatism of the ACP
and forced from their neoliberal privatization policies
diametrically opposed. Furthermore Rojava constitutes an
obstacle to expansionist ambitions of Turkey to extend its
influence over the region. The strategic and economic alignment
of Turkey as a whole is in a highly visible opposition to the
project Rojava. In effect, contrary to the entire history of the
conflict, the expectation that the Syrian Kurdish population
could receive support from Turkey. The situation is similar with
respect to the Government of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region
(KRG). Cooperative production units, a progressive gender
politics, democratic councils in Rojava structures are the
overall alignment of the existing of the oil-pension quasi State
in Iraq - all the lip service in the current situation, despite
the - counter.
For the IS Rojava and Kobanê have a strategic importance,
however. If Kobanê falls into the hands of the IS, it is all the
easier to recruit fighters from Turkey and smuggle weapons and
other goods. Geographically, Kobanê the middle of the three
cantons. The other two cantons were completely decoupled from
each other without Kobanê and their defense against further
attacks of the IS would be more difficult.
Turkey is now trying to exploit this situation and to exploit
the attack of the IS to force Rojava mission and to increase
their own international weight. Debunking is of Davutoğlu
publicly erected condition compared to the United States to
support an insert with ground troops against the IS only when
the goal is to overthrow the Syrian government. Open he could
not say that constitute the advance of the IS and the murders of
the Syrian population within sight of the Turkish border no
motivation to intervene. Now, true, the contents of recently
adopted by the Turkish Parliament war mandate. The PKK - same
for the Turkish government with Rojava - and the IS are
mentioned in the same breath as terrorist organizations. Given
the choice between the PKK or Rojava and the IS, the decision of
the Turkish government falls significantly.
International Solidarity
Turkey and the Government of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region
have Rojava isolated and deliberately weakened. So they have
Rojava as before now exposed to the attacks other Islamist
militias and the attacks of the IS aware. That precisely those
forces are now to come to the rescue who have worked towards
this situation is absurd.
Without prejudice to their achievements, the population in
Rojava has to be expected from other states no substantial
assistance. That the destruction Rojavas currently a priority
for the United States in the face of a compromised situation in
the Middle East, although it is doubtful. Nevertheless, the
United States certainly no friends of Rojava that all attempts
at instrumentalization eluded to overthrow the Syrian
government. In principle, it can be assumed that a
council-democratic project with anti-capitalist potential
motivation of the United States rather reduces, to protect it
from any attacks. Only the integration into an alliance against
the IS could temporarily provide a reason to support. However,
this reason alone seems too weak to stand up to the special
interests of the American allies in the region - Turkey and the
Kurdistan Autonomous Region of Iraq - to enforce. The situation
that a member of NATO could intervene against the interests of
another Member at its borders in favor Rojavas is hard to
imagine. The strategic partnership between the West and the KRG,
which was recently extended additionally weaken the hope for the
population Rojavas, for their salvation could humanitarian
reasons come to fruition.
Realistically, that the defense Rojavas still needs to be done
mainly by the population and the self-defense forces. They
receive direct support of the PKK, the Kurdish population and a
so far numerically relatively small but determined left of the
population in Turkey.. A wide mobilization in Turkey could
obtain that the price for smashing Rojavas for AkP domestic
politics will be too high and she feels compelled to make
concessions. The opening of a corridor for the support of Kobanê
and the lifting of the embargo by Turkey and the KRG would
achieve. However, the imposition of curfews, the deployment of
the military in many cities, including Istanbul, the shooting of
demonstrators and the mobilization of armed fascist militias is
already showing that the Turkish government will go to extremes.
In contrast, the importance Rojavas for the prospects of an
internationalist left just after the rows failed uprisings in
North Africa and the Middle East can not be considered to be
large enough. The council-democratic cantons show the total
population in the Middle East to the possibility that a
peaceful, democratic and based on social justice self-government
on cultural differences of time can be established. Rojava thus
forms a counter-model for ethnic and sectarian polarization in
the region. That such a model has been able to be so protected
solely by self-defense forces without imperialist patronage, is
a special feature. Well, turns out, however that the existence
Rojavas can not be saved without international solidarity.
But which solidarity can be practiced from here? An examination
of the request by some left-deputies after a military operation
with a UN mandate is required. Given the manifest differences in
the Security Council, however, this requirement appears as a
mere symbolic politics. Since such a mandate will probably
hardly come into existence, has the claim only to the conclusion
that a second time a peace political principle of party is
injured. The extremely short distance to Gregor Gysi's push for
an "exceptionally" weapons delivery in a conflict region makes
it clear how quickly the exceptions are the rule. The collected
receivables of arms shipments to guarantee Rojava straight from
a peace politically informed perspective no solidarity with
Rojava. Without a doubt, the requirements of Rojava even after
military aid in the face of a war in which it is all or nothing,
are understandable and legitimate. However, the problem of a
peace political position in Germany is different. Can the German
Left ensure that the opening of their legitimacy corridor
(German or non-German) military deployments and arms sales, will
serve the "right" reasons? As the balance of power in Germany
not even allow this to some extent, the German Left does not
have the power to control operations and weapons deliveries,
must be the answer "No".
The recent experience Gysis foray confirms this fear that the
Left only assumes the function of a legitimacy buyer. When in
the Iraqi Sinjar Mountains the Yazidi population counter facrd
a massacre by the IS, it was left unprotected by the KRG
Peshmerga. The hastening to the aid of Rojava forces and the PKK
on the other hand were those who were, as already mentioned
above in their fight against Islamist militias of the KRG active
weakened for a long time. Although these unspeakable role of the
KRG is open, they became stylized as Savior and delivered her in
violation of the UN Charter German weapons. While the KRG sees
himself thus confirms and reaffirms its policy towards Rojava,
no one can guarantee that the new weapons are addressed in
future not even against the perceived hostile Rojava or the PKK.
So Instead of working to combat missions and weapons supplies to
its effective implementation and bond no decisive influence can
be exercised, the German Left, not only the party could do in
the current situation strongly advocate that the machinations of
the NATO-member Turkey as the disclosed what they are: A
conscious delivery of the population Rojavas in the hands of the
IS. Key Demands from Rojava and Turkey could be taken up without
falling into war political pitfalls. So the units of YPG / YPJ
have also stated that they can afford the defense Rojavas itself
together with the PKK. Turkey should these units open only a
corridor on their territory for military supplies and logistical
support and refrain from the factual support of the IS. To
demand this as loud as possible, is now necessary. The German
government must be pressurized in order to make their NATO
partner Turkey pressure. A military intervention of Turkey is
considered, however, it clearly rejected. Next Going currently
hundreds of thousands of protesters in Turkey with massive
police and military operations, which still beat the orgies of
violence of the June uprising, dejectedly. The imposed curfew
means the suspension of civil rights. To campaign for an
immediate cancellation of this state of emergency, to prevent
further killings and to demand the clarification of the already
committed murders, is now an urgent task of international
solidarity.
False Reporting in Germany: Kurds
demand not a Turkish intervention in Kobanê
A review of Civaka Azad, 10.08.2014
There is not only war in Kobanê. Since at least yesterday
there is also a state of war in North Kurdistan and Turkey.
It can always reach us back news of protesters killed. It
seems as if all dark forces in Turkey that led to the dirty
war in Kurdistan in the 90s, again found together: Turkish
soldiers, Turkish military, village guards and members and
supporters of the radical Islamist Hizbullah (1) that as a
paramilitary force in the 90s has spread terror on the
streets of Kurdistan and is now organized as a political
party with the name Hüda-par, are leading a common struggle
against Kurds who go everywhere on the streets. There is a
"serhildan" - a popular uprising in northern Kurdistan. And
this popular uprising is fought with brutal means. "All
violent actions are rewarded with a multiple," Turkish
Interior Minister Efkan Ala had declared yesterday. These
statements seem to have been an order. Ever since then,
reach us almost hourly reports of deaths. There is absolute
state of emergency in the cities of Northern Kurdistan. In
many cities, curfews were imposed. The schools remained
closed today. In the cities of Kurdistan Turkish soldiers
and military tanks are mounted. There is an atmosphere
similar to a military coup. The fire of Kobanê has so beaten
over to Northern Kurdistan.
But why go the Kurds in Turkey again on the streets?
Actually, the answer to this question lies at hand. Turkey
supports the IS with weapons and logistics and will
necessarily mean that Kobanê falls. While it is taking a
supposed peace process with the Kurds in Northern Kurdistan,
it also leads a proxy war over the IS in Rojava. Thus they
want to strengthen their negotiating position with the Kurds
in his own country. But the Turkish state does not just play
with fire, this fire is already broken; he has
miscalculated. He might have expected that the Kurds in his
own country watch the case Kobanês idly. But that's not
happening, we see since yesterday. The resistance for Kobanê
is in fact at least since yesterday no more resistance that
is out alone in Kobanê.
False reporting in the German media?
So this is the reason why the Kurds in Northern Kurdistan
and Turkey take to the streets. But strangely enough, have
virtually all media in Germany a completely different answer
to the question above. The Kurds would go because of the
inaction of Turkey in the attack on the IS Kobanê on the
streets, was widely read today in the German media and
listen. So the Kurds go on the streets, doing a resistance
against the Turkish state terror and leave to dozens their
lifes to move Turkey for a military intervention in Kobanê,
is the argument of these media organs. This line of argument
is a mockery to the people who risk for days on the streets
of Northern Kurdistan and Turkey their lives in order to
show solidarity with the resistance of Kobanê. The people do
not go on the streets to move Turkey to Kobanê. They go on
the streets, so that Turkey finally adjusts their actions
and their dirty politics in Kobanê and throughout Rojava.
Against this background, the media coverage of Kobanê in
Germany is not only strange and just plain wrong, it is also
extremely dangerous. Because Turkey wants to intervene
militarily in the neighboring country since the beginning of
the Syrian civil war. An important reason for this is the
self-governing structures of the Kurds in Rojava. This is
simply what the AKP government is not willing to tolerate.
Therefore, it calls for a buffer zone on the border, for
then Turkey has to take care. For example, Turkey could
control not only the areas of Rojava, at best, they might
even incorporate the region in perspective in their own
territory. Because the Syrian state is already a failed
state and who may now assume that he can still work in the
future with its present boundaries. So the calculus of
Ankara. To implement these plans, a plot should be
generated, in which Turkish soldiers shortly after the fall
Kobanês - with the Erdogan earlier expected - invade Rojava
and seemingly save the Kurds there. Then they appear as the
savior from the Islamists, who are barely treated in Turkish
hospitals - as well as Vice-President of the Bundestag
Claudia Roth accused in the ARD television - on. Thus, from
the perspective of the Turkish government, both the Kurdish
Problem solved and the IS would be repulsed, so that they
can concentrate only on Assad.
And today's coverage in parts of the German media suggests
indeed that the Kurds take to the streets in despair and
anger because of the inaction of Ankara in Northern
Kurdistan and Turkey and afford struggles with the Turkish
security forces and their helpers there. Us, the question
arises what the media want hereby intend? If they have
received from any major Kurdish politicians or activists a
statement or a statement that confirms their coverage, so we
are willing to apologize and withdraw our representation of
the situation. Otherwise, we ask for a correction of this
false reporting, because otherwise you would have to press
those representatives who wish to maintain their false
representation, impute evil intentions.
"If Turkey with international support, because it is
necessary to actually implement their plans and invade
Kobanê, the Kurds are the intended as a further occupation
of Kurdistan and increase their resistance drastically,"
this is the answer we have received from a Kurdish
politician from Northern Kurdistan today.

PKK Leader Öcalan: “Kobanê Is Everything
To Us,” Warns Of End To Peace Process
PKK and Kurdish popular leader Abdullah Öcalan has warned his
brother Mehmet that “JİTEM (an illegal paramilitary organization
with longstanding connections to the Turkish military and state)
was attempting to destroy the [peace] process “ during a visit at
his prison on Imralı island – says an
article
written by Sadık Topalğlu for DİHA and carried in Özgür Gündem.
Öcalan added that “if JİTEM is not thwarted and once again put
out of commission then this process would not go on.” Öcalan also
spoke on the attacks on Kobanê and the subsequent uprisings in
North Kurdistan, saying “Kurds should rise up everywhere against
these policies. They should show great resistance to ISIS. If they
do not do this today, tomorrow might be too late.”
Abdullah Öcalan’s brother Mehmet explained to DİHA that he spoke
with the Kurdish leader as part of a 45 minute family visit
earlier this week. He gave positive news about Öcalan’s health –
saying it was much improved – and added that Öcalan had spoken
about three main topic – the recent death of his older sister
Havva, the siege of Kobanê, and the course of the peace process.
“Kurds Must Rise Up Everywhere Against The Attacks In
Kobanê”
Öcalan called on the Kurds to rise up against the attacks on
ISIS, saying “the Kurds are an oppressed people. The people of
Kobanê are an oppressed people. They have just drawn a border
between us. The people are where they are because of their own
labor. They have developed a system proper to themselves. The
state cannot tolerate this. They should have supported them but
they did not…our people in Kobanê will resist to the end. Wherever
ISIS is and wherever ISIS exists in regions where Kurds live we
will resist to the end. There will be no compromise with ISIS.
ISIS is an artificial organization. Wherever there is an attack
against Kurds there must be a big response.”
Öcalan also stressed that certain international and regional
powers were supporting ISIS with the goal of eliminating the
Kurds, adding “no one has the right to destroy a people. Kurds
should rise up everywhere against these policies. They should show
great resistance to ISIS. If they do not do this today, tomorrow
might be too late. Look at what they are doing some of them are
having breakfast, some lunch and some dinner. This is not an
acceptable situation. No one has the right to abandon Kobanê.
There must be a great resistance to ISIS everywhere. Kobanê is
everything to us. Every segment of society is involved in the
process in Kobanê. The Kurdish people there is an umbrella.
Turkmens, Arabs, Armenians and all the other ethnic groups there
can carry on life together under this umbrella.”
“A Great Resistance Awaits The Kurds”
Öcalan went on to describe how Kurds wanted to live in peace with
all the peoples of the region, saying “the Kurdish people want to
build brotherhood with all groups. The Turks are also our brothers
however there is law to brotherhood. If this law is not followed
then this brotherhood is not a true brotherhood. It cannot be
accepted. It must be true brotherhood. The Kurdish people are not
the enemies of any people. They are the friends of every people
and group. Intellectual and democratic groups, every structure and
color, should refuse to abandon the people of Kobanê. No one has
the write to destroy or finish the Kurdish people. We do not
accept this. Only one thing remains for the Kurds and that is a
great resistance.”
“There Is A Peace Process In Theory But None In
Practice”
Öcalan spoke of the current impasse of the peace process, saying
“we have nothing on our side. Whatever falls upon our shoulders we
will we do it and we are doing it. However the process cannot be
one-sided. In Turkey they are passing laws. They are saying let
the people come back from Maxmur. Well did they pass a law about
this? No, they did not pass any laws. They are saying let the
Kurdish fighters come back but is there a law for this? No. Well
what should the Kurds come back and do? Shall they come back, be
arrested and thrown in prison? This is not something that can be
accepted…If they want – and I have told them before – to start
negotiations they should not put them off. It should be a true and
proper negotiation. I said to them give me a secretary so that I
can write what I want but they did not do this. There is a process
in theory but none in practice. They process cannot go on in this
way.”
Öcalan added that if the government did not take steps towards a
real negotiation by October 15th then he would withdraw his
support, saying “there is nothing left for me to do. They have
been doing this for 5 years but nothing has come of it. This is
not right.”
“JİTEM Must Be Put Out Of Commission”
Öcalan added that he thought “Jitem was working to destroy the
process. If JİTEM is not thwarted and once again put out of
commission then this process will no go on. Take the process out
of the hands of JİTEM and direct it in a democratic manner. We are
ready for everything but we want it to come from a true and proper
process. We do not want delay tactics.” He also warned his people
of the danger of ISIS, saying “Let our people be awake. It is not
certain what will happen tomorrow. Let everyone show where they
stand now. Tomorrow could be too late.”
Finally Öcalan sent his greetings to all those resisting ISIS and
in particular the people of Kobanê.

"Islamist
paramilitaries are underway"
Cemil Bayik, KCK co-chairman, column at Azadiya
Welat, 10/09/2014
"The AKP government and the green JITEM are active. The attacks by
police, military, Hüda-par and JITEM were exercised to prevent the
support of the Kurdish society for Kobanê. They will not be
successful with this project. Those engaged in a dirty war, will
drown in this blood shed. And the Kurdish people will be able to
live in the near future in freedom and democracy.
"In one of Kurdish newspapers' Azadiya Welat 'and' Yeni Özgür
Politika "published column has the co-chair of the Community of
the companies of Kurdistan (KCK) Cemil Bayik the uprisings in
North Kurdistan after the invasion of the jihadists of the Islamic
State (IS) in the canton Kobanê evaluated in Western Kurdistan and
the attacks by the radical Islamist Hüda-par on Kurds. The
following is a free translation of his analysis.
The Turkish state has mobilized, as well as the attacks of the
fascist IS (Islamic State) on Kobanê, also in Northern Kurdistan
reactionary forces (members of Hüda-Par). Both inside (political)
and external (political) they exploited their forces against the
Kurdish freedom movement. Just as they have in the 1990s JITEM (
Intelligence and counterterrorism gendarmerie) and the JITEM-
related forces mobilized against the Kurdish freedom movement,
they now attack democratic actions of the people. These attacks
are directly related with the Turkish war forces. It involves
planned and prepared attacks.
The Hizbollah and (members of) Hüda-par have the people attacked
publicly in the past and killed some patriots. The Turkish state
tries to provoke a conflict, which favors that these forces can
attack the people between the Kurdish freedom movement and these
forces. The Turkish government was silent on their acts. The
institutions of the Turkish warfare have always tried to deal with
the Kurdish freedom movement with some forces and exert attacks on
them, but these measures have not been effective. The recent
attacks show that the Turkish warfare has once again organized
these forces from the 1990s.
While thousands of villages are besieged by Kobanê, forced tens of
thousands of people had to leave their homes and are on the run
and Kobanê is however subjected to severe attacks, the Kurdish
people is on the road to support this resistance in Kobanê.
Attacking people, who have risen for Kobanê, the public support of
the IS is the same. They attacked in the name of the IS the
people. These attacks happened like in the 1990s under the
supervision of the Turkish police. They show once again and even
more sharp that the Turkish state has not changed his mentality to
continue suppressing the Kurdish struggle for freedom with all
the dirty means. For this reason, they have mobilized some forces
under the guise of religion against the Kurdish people and this
policy will continue.
These types of attacks are the result of some Hüda-Par-related
media and television stations, which have declared the Kurdish
freedom movement to its destination. The aggressive language of
these media were the harbingers of such attacks.
The free and alternative Kurdish press had previously never
reported these forces or started after several attacks with the
reporting. It has repeatedly said that the attacks of these forces
serve as a provocation of the Kurdish freedom movement and
democratic forces. Behind this provocation certainly put the
Turkish state and AKP government. In a phase in which continued
the resistance of Kobanê, the transformation of this provocation
in killings was remarkable. The thesis of Reber Apo which 'the
ISIS, JITEM is another name' highlight the backgrounds of these
attacks. The JITEM from the 1990s have brought it back to life.
The JITEM, which was renewed during the reign of the ACP is
essentially the same JITEM the nineties, with the difference that
it is now dyed [in the sense of an Islamist orientation] green.
These events can be illustrated only in this way. It can not be
explained by the fact that some young people or provocateurs have
crept into the society and throw stones these incidents. The
Kurdish freedom movement has been dealt patiently. It has been
even the death and injury of some viewed as a provocation. But the
recent killings show that these incidents are organized and
planned. It is clear once again what forces can renew and organize
the Turkish state.
The AKP government and the green JITEM are active. These attacks
were exercised to prevent the support of the Kurdish society for
Kobanê. The other reason for these attacks is that the Turkish
state has responded by these attacks on the termination of the
ceasefire on the part of the Kurdish freedom movement. The Turkish
government threatened the Kurdish population and the freedom
movement under the slogan 'If you do not bow to our policy, you
will be faced with such attacks'. Even the threat of the (Turkish
Interior Minister) Efkan Ala is this the same.
The AKP and the forces that organized the Turkish state should
take note that the freedom struggle of the Kurdish people can not
be stopped. The Turkish state and AKP government want to destroy
the organization of such forces, the Kurdish struggle for freedom,
to escape the solution to the Kurdish question. You will not be
successful with this project. Those engaged in a dirty war, will
drown in this blood shed. And the Kurdish people will be able to
live in the near future in freedom and democracy.
--------------------------------------------
The follow article – “Türkiye stratejik olarak yenildi“ –
written by Veysi Sarısözen and originally appeared in
Özgür Gündem.
From a strategic perspective Turkey has suffered a major defeat
in the nearly 25 day resistance [in Kobanê].
For that reason the international powers which have been coolly
watching ISIS – a group around which they made a big gamble – have
begun to “talk.”
When Obama said “we underestimated ISIS” he was not confessing.
He was saying that the gamble which Erdoğan had made had the
expected results. But because it was impossible for him to say
this, he called this expected result “a small mistake which we
made” and went on about having `underestimated” ISIS.
The United States did not underestimate ISIS. They chose to look
the other way. And now that they see the results of the “terrorist
gamble” which Erdoğan has made they have began to speak openly
about what they have known for a long time.
The US Vice-President – or actually the “head chef in the
kitchen” – Joe Biden spoke thus: “Our allies in the region were
our largest problem in Syria… What were they doing? They were so
determined to take down Assad they poured in hundreds of millions
of dollars and thousands of tons of weapons into anyone who would
fight Assad; except the people who were being supplied were
al-Nusra, al-Qaeda and extremist elements of the Jihadis coming
from other parts of the world…They have provoked a Sunni-Shia
proxy war.”
“Now Saudi Arabia has stopped the funding going out. Saudi Arabia
is allowing training on its soil of American forces. The Qataris
have cut off their support for the most extreme elements of the
terrorist organizations. And the Turks…President Erdogan told me,
he is an old friend, ‘you were right we let too many people
through.’ Now they are trying to seal their border.”
These words, which only reflect a small part of the reality, were
drawn from Biden by the heroic resistance fighters in Kobanê. The
Pentagon analyzed the Kobanê resistance wonderfully in reflecting
on what had happened over the previous two days and in their last
analysis they understood, even if they zigzagged here and there,
that ISIS and more fundamentally Turkey had lost in Kobanê.
As soon as they understood this Biden spoke this way. With this
speech the United States proclaimed it has suffered a defeat from
the strategic perspective in the region.
The battle for Kobanê could go on a long time. Like in all
battles there might be tactical victories and defeats in this
battle. But in the same way that the Nazis suffered defeat at
Stalingrad from a strategic perspective despite the fact that the
battle would go on for two more years and cost millions of lives
this is what is happening and will happen here.
Biden did not just blame Turkey in any old manner. He did just
speak about “mistakes” and “errors.”
Biden accused Turkey of various crimes. He blamed it for starting
a sectarian war, and of supporting a terrorist organization
materially and militarily. And now the Council of Europe has taken
in a historical decision in the course of its meetings around
Kobanê in which it was said that “terrorists and their supporters
must be put on trial.” Later the decision that came out read: “all
states in the Middle East and more widely in the international
community must condemn the violent actions and ethnic cleansing
carried out by ISIS against different ethnic and religious groups
and must unite their forces against the existing crisis and so
that it does not repeat. All human rights violations much be
investigated and those responsible should be held legally
accountable.”
Turkey can no longer continue its gamble with ISIS. That road has
been cut by the PYD together with the resistance fighters.
For the present as least Turkey’s dreams to establish its own
hegemony over Rojava have fallen apart. But still waiting in the
wings is the United States and European Union’s plans for a
“Rojava without the YPG and PYD.”
Just as the blows dealt by the guerrillas to the gangs in Kobanê
have disappointed Turkey’s dreams of expansion, victory in Kobanê
and the liberation of the whole of Rojava will be a major blow to
the plans of the global powers to break apart the Middle East,
extract its riches and share its markets; and it will open the way
for Öcalan’s dream of uniting Kurdistan while rendering borders
meaningless, and of building a common confederal Middle East home
and a society on a democratic national foundation formed from a
synthesis of all ethnicities, religions, sects and cultures. The
heroic defenders of Kobanê have become the hope and the spirit of
humanity.
